I had another fashion epiphany, brought on by an odd complex over my personal style.

I’ve been in a quandary over determining a consistent look - I work for myself, from home. But I also work in the fashion industry - very few people see the face of their perfumers, so I need a presentable face. Presentable in this case means stylish, and definitely not the oil stained, smocked affair that results from my work at home.

Who I see and serve is also part of the conundrum.  I want to appeal to the plus design industry, but my product appeals to the punk-goth types out there, of which I am neither.

So it comes down to two approaches in fashion.

One, the most common, is, “Who am I?”

The second question, probably practiced more, is “What do I want to accomplish?”

The first question is the reason behind some of the scary explorations and fashion faux pas that teenagers commit. The second question is the answer that hurts or helps us in job and social situations.

My answer is that I ultimately need two wardrobes that allow some bleedover between the two. So sound basics, with a few punk tees on one side, and some really good shoes on the other side.
